Necklace with red agate and twisted metal pipes

by monika on Monday, June 21st, 2010

This necklace is another version of this necklace, but with silver-colored pipes and red agate beads instead of copper pipes and sodalite beads. I think that the contrast between the orange red beads and the silver-colored metal pipes creates a very nice combination, even though the necklace in itself is very simple. In this case, I used wire as the base of the necklace since the edges of the pipes was a bit sharp and uneven which makes it impractical to use string or thread.

Tigereye and lava stone necklace with pendant

by monika on Friday, April 2nd, 2010

As you might have noticed, I like semi-precious stones and minerals, and in this case I have used tigereye, tiger iron, and lava stone beads to make a fairly long necklace with a heart-shaped tigereye pendant.

The oval long beads down close by the pendant are the tiger iron beads, the rest are tigereye or lava stone beads with metal bead caps. Perhaps the pendant is a bit small for the length of the necklace, I might consider remaking it some time and make it slightly shorter as well as maybe move the tiger iron beads farther away from the pendant. Otherwise I think that the beads fit fairly well together, and I was rather happy to try the tigereye cube beads with the diagonal holes. I found them in the form of a necklace at a local store close to my work, and I love the luster of the beads so I bought a necklace that I have taken apart for the beads.

This picture gives a closer view of the pendant where the shifting colors of the tigereye can be seen quite clearly.

Moonstone, filigree, and glass bead necklace

by monika on Monday, August 17th, 2009

A large faceted square bead of moonstone is the center of this necklace. The moonstone bead is surrounded by round copper filigree beads, clear glass beads, and moonstone chips and the largest beads are in the middle and then they get smaller the further towards the ends of the necklace you get.

Seed bead necklace and bracelet with snowflake charms

by monika on Saturday, August 15th, 2009

This is a necklace and bracelet made of black and silver-lined crystal twisted bugle beads and seed beads, small black glass cubes, black cloisonne beads, small round metal beads, and metal snowflake charms.

Several people have been interested in this design and I have made at least three copies of this necklace and bracelet, two with the snowflake charms and one with small flower charms instead. I do not think I have any of them left, but I might make another one some day.

Black hearts, necklace and bracelet

by monika on Friday, August 14th, 2009

Beautiful necklace and bracelet with black hearts.

The large hearts in the middle of the necklace and bracelet are made of hematite. The smaller hearts are glass beads, and the small cubes and twisted bugle beads are black with AB finish. The bracelet is made from memory wire and the necklace is made of wire with a simple toggle clasp.

Colorful chips necklace

by monika on Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Three wires with jaspis chips, turquoise howlite chips,  and turquoise chips bound together by twisted metal beads.

By using three wires, the necklace gets a lot of volume, and the metal beads holds the wires together to give an impression of volume.

White fresh-water pearl necklace

by monika on Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Probably the first necklace I made with freshwater pearls.

It is based on white “rice” fresh-water pearls of varying sizes, with small round metal beads between each pearl.  There are also a couple of small metal flowers and butterflies between some of the pearls, and the stars are made from white seashell. The bracelet has a common lobster clasp, while the necklace has a toggle clasp.

Hopefully, a better picture will replace this one at some point.

Necklace of seed beads and small glass beads

by monika on Sunday, August 9th, 2009

I think I have at least three variations of this necklace, all with different length and slightly different compositions. Looking through my collection, I have found two similar ones, but it seems I no longer have this particular necklace left.

This necklace was made from blue seed beads, small dragonfly metal beads, blue and crystal faceted glass beads, frosted blue and crystal pyramid beads, small blue glass beads with AB finish, and slightly larger blue glass cubes with AB finish.

Glass bead necklace with pendant

by monika on Sunday, August 9th, 2009

This necklace was among the first I made from larger glass beads rather than basing it on seed beads. It is not quite symmetrical since I used a bead mix when I created it, and not all of the beads where exactly like each other…

It is made from dark grey and black glass beads, some with white or gold decrations, large metal spiral findings, and with a leaflike light metal pendant. I no longer have this necklace so this is the only picture available.
